Welcome to Only Wright

I regret to report that the fully functioning version of the Only Wright portal has been temporarily replaced by this static Web page. I hope to revive and improve the Topic Maps based portal version of this site in the future. The project needs to be moved to a new server and the application needs more time devoted to it than I currently have available.

Ever since I learned how to create topic maps, I have been working on one of a series of topic maps about the architect Frank Lloyd Wright. I have always found Wright's designs fascinating and it was the pursuit of a means to organize information about his life and work that led me to Topic Maps.

The first version of the portal was created for the AToMS 2007 Conference in Kyoto. Consequently, it included all of the Wright design projects that were built in Japan. All of Wright's Japanese structures, existing or destroyed, were represented in the portal. A handful of his best known American works were included as well.

The second version of the Only Wright portal was created for the Topicmaps 2008 Conference in Oslo. This version included refinement in the design of each portal page type to reflect a more consistent expression of the information architecture. Also, the project was expanded to include a more simple version of the portal.. Together with the full-featured portal, this more simple version was used to teach methods of constructing portals from topic maps.

Please come back to visit us again. We hope to have the full version of the Only Wright portal functioning soon.

Best Regards,

Kevin
